My most recent visit was just after International Women’s Day with a group of friends. Women left their mark on the city while protesting abuse from the patriarchy. One thing that was made very clear is that women have whispered for way too long. In 2024, their presence would reverberate and echo through time. Statues were desecrated and building walls provided blank canvasses for women to label their pain. Some intimate messages directed at their offenders were “TMI”. I surmised that the displays would remain a short time for effect, then be scrubbed, disinfected and restored to their original condition by the city.
